The Trillium Academic Program is a well-established, Pre-Health Sciences program providing aspiring students with in-depth knowledge and requirements for medical school. It plays an important, intermediary role in a student’s educational path. Our main campuses are located in Ontario, Canada (Brampton & Mississauga) with a satellite campus in Alberta, Canada (Calgary). Student’s can also do courses through distance learning (online).

We enable our students to partake in greater learning opportunities provided through the Trillium Academic Program. Students will undergo a three-semester Pre-Health Sciences program to earn the credits and experience needed for their chosen career path. During the Pre-Health Sciences program students can also gain credits towards meeting the requirements of the Basic Sciences program at various medical schools. The Pre-Health Sciences program consists of three semesters (42 weeks total) and earns a total of 150 credits. This allows students to be well prepared for their path in health-care.

Students will receive a Diploma of Pre-Health Sciences upon completion of the pre-med program. Canadian students are able to stay close to home and study in the comfort of their own environment. Our knowledgeable and professional instructors not only educate but tutor and advise students throughout the course of their study. Students are instructed based on a rigorous curriculum, which will set a strong foundation for students to build upon in their future careers.

The Pre-Health Sciences program also allows those who are looking for a career change but do not have the prerequisites to apply to various programs and jobs in the healthcare field. Upon completion of the Pre-Health Sciences program, graduates will have the knowledge base and criteria needed to apply their credits towards a career in healthcare of their choosing and various university and college programs.

Trillium Medical Education Consultants has numerous articulation agreements in place with a variety of accredited medical schools located in the Caribbean islands and Europe. Because of our multiple articulation agreements, our Academic Advisors will guide the students to choose which medical school is the best option for them. Upon completion of our Diploma of Pre-Health Sciences, students will get guaranteed acceptance into a 4-year MD program with one of our affiliated medical schools (upon meeting non-academic entrance requirements of the medical school).

TMEC provides clerkship opportunities for 3rd and 4th-year medical students. We have clerkship opportunities in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom & more. We have set core rotations, which students must complete depending on their medical university’s curriculum as well as a variety of elective opportunities for students to further explore possible career choices. Prior to the commencement of their first clerkship, students undergo an orientation process at which time they complete HIPAA safety training, hospital protocol and procedures, safety and hazard testing as well as radiation safety testing. They are taught how to take a detailed history and physical and how to present and write a patient note. All prerequisites must be met before a student is approved for a rotation. It is advised students apply 4-6 weeks prior to their start date so we can accommodate their specialty and hospital preference.

For medical graduates who have already obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree, TMEC has a variety of externship opportunities. Our externship and clinical experience opportunities provide hands-on experience for those who have taken time off after graduating and to those who completed their rotations internationally and would like to gain U.S. and Canadian clinical experience. This service is also for those who are in the midst of applying and awaiting the residency match allowing them continuous involvement in the healthcare system. Our externships provide hands-on experience and close patient contact in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Graduates have the opportunity to obtain a history and conduct physical examinations, partake in grand rounds at the hospital, perfect their suturing and blood-drawing techniques and much more.

All medical graduates will receive a certificate for successfully completing the placement.

International medical graduates can now update their knowledge & skills and become competitive applicants for medical residency positions by completing 9-months (3-semesters) of clinical placements in USA or Canada. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Student Performance Evaluation (Dean’s letter), program transcript and a Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine allows students to gain hands-on experience in an inpatient setting. Graduates will be under direct supervision of preceptors who hold strong positions at teaching sites. Students will have access to hospital operating rooms, direct patient contact, participate in hospital grand round lectures and more. We will help facilitate students to attain a US visa for clinical placements for the duration of the program.

Benefits of the program include:
• Direct exposure to patient care with qualified preceptors at renown teaching sites
• Attain personalized letters of recommendation and end of placement evaluations
• US/Canadian clinical placements
• Affordable tuition (payment plans available)
• Establish relationships by working with department chairpersons, program directors, existing residents & fellows.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine program is only applicable for graduates of a World Directory of Medical Schools – WDOMS (formerly IMED) recognized medical school. The Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine program is an elite program offered by Easton Education (www.eastoneducation.ca), which is an affiliate institution of Trillium Medical Education Consultants (TMEC). TMEC does not directly issue the diploma or provide any credits towards the student’s medical school MD program or part of any degree-granting program. Students must meet all admissions and graduation requirements of the affiliated institute in order to qualify for this program. Some restrictions apply.
